Jennifer is a licensed clinical social worker who specializes in treatment of trauma. Currently, she is providing ONLINE tele-therapy at this time. Jenn works with primarily with adolescents and adults. She uses cognitive-behavioral interventions to target depression, anxiety, grief & loss, and other life-adjustment needs. She takes a strengths-based approach to allow the individual to draw on their innate skills to overcome barriers. Jenn is also a Certified Trauma Specialist with experience treating early childhood trauma. She is trained in Eye Movement Desensitization & Reprocessing (EMDR), which allows the brain to heal wounds of trauma - even early trauma that may be repressed. She has also been trained by Dr. Janina Fisher for an emerging trauma model: Trauma Informed Stabilization Treatment (TIST) that is designed for clinical dissociation. Jenn has worked with military and expat families for the last 5 years. Prior to that she was providing therapy services to children and families that were at risk of out of home placement. She recognizes the shifts and adjustments that come with relocations, BOTH for adults and kids. It can be challenging to restart every few years, engage in new culture/expectations, longing for stabilization in a changing environment, and meeting life milestones along the journey. The therapeutic setting is great to process these challenges, develop reasonable expectations for yourself, embrace your abilities to develop solutions and resolve obstacles faced. Jenn is a Maryland native who has lived "all over" with military relocations almost 20 years. Outside of the therapy office, Jenn enjoys sewing, reading, and cheering her children on in their sports activities.
